I had a delicious day today, on my 55th birthday.
I am now officially middle-aged (as opposed to very old), and spent the day focusing on pushing down on the inside edges of my feet through the boots onto the inside edge of my new Head Monster 78 skis. So delicious, the feeling of a tightly carved turn on a steep slope, focusing on the here and now whilst preparing for the next hop and turn, hoping against hope that my arthritic but enthusiastic knees survive one more turn … and one more turn … and one more turn … and …
Oh yes, I skiied hard today, and I am paying for it tonight. But to avid skiers who do not prepare themselves at the beginning of every season, it’s always like this. I will sleep deeply tonight, and then creak and crack and crick tomorrow morning and on Sunday I will be fine. Three more days of skiing like this and I will be hopping down the steep mogul hills as if I were a young goat of about 40 years.
It was sunny, pretty warm, and the views were beyond spectacular today. I will post more pics in the next day or two.

happy birthday old man. (middle aged? are you living to 110?) stay within the boundaries please.
Happy Birthday, Jon. The skiiing sounds wonderful.
Happy Birthday Jon! What a stunning picture Jon, with those ships. With all that skiing and swimming you’re a fitter man than me I bet.
Thanks, friends.
It was what they call a peak experience or peak moments day … all in a flow, at one with the fresh air, sunshine, snow, body believing it’s young once again, panting and sweating with a crazy s*#t-eatin’ grin on my face, that kind of thing …
